Gamebell is made by La Win Ko. This policy says what Gamebell keeps, what it sends, and why.
On your Mac
Your follows, your settings, a random install id, a random usage ID, your licence key and token, and cached data stay on your Mac.
Sent to us
- To show scores, the app sends our server the ids it needs, any search text, and your time zone for day views.
- To check a licence, it sends the install id and the licence key.
- If Share anonymous usage data is on, a few anonymous counts with a random usage ID, listed under Anonymous usage data below.
- There is no account, so the app never sends us your name or email address.
- Feedback you choose to send with Send Feedback…, and crash reports when your build of Gamebell has crash reporting on, both described below.
Feedback and problem reports
Send Feedback… in the app, and the offer to tell us about it after Gamebell quits unexpectedly, open your own email app with a message to us. Nothing is sent until you send it, and you can change or delete anything in it first. Besides what you write, the message carries: the app's version, the macOS version, your Mac's model, whether its built-in display has a notch, and the install id, and after a crash the time of the crash and its type. It comes to us as an ordinary email, which only we read.
Crash reports
A build of Gamebell with crash reporting on sends a report to Sentry when the app crashes, and Sentry stores it for us. A report holds crash data only: where in the app the crash happened, the app's version, the macOS version and the kind of Mac, and technical details from the moment of the crash, such as the Mac's language setting, its memory and screen size, and when the app was opened. It carries no name, no email address, no install id and no device name. Builds without crash reporting send nothing.
Payments
Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for Premium. It collects your payment and contact details under its own privacy notice.
From Paddle we receive a subscription id, a customer id, the subscription's status, the end of the billing period, and the install id the checkout carried. We also learn when a payment is refunded or charged back, and keep the end of the period it covered. We never receive card details or your email address from those events.
Hosting
Cloudflare hosts our server. It handles each request, including its network address, and may keep its own short-lived logs under its privacy policy. Our own logs record events, such as "a licence was activated", never addresses, keys, install ids or usage IDs. Rate limiting counts requests per address for a minute, in memory. To choose which football leagues to refresh, live requests may be counted once per address for five minutes, in memory.
Data providers
Football data comes from Highlightly, and esports data from PandaScore. Only our server contacts them, never the app.
Updates
The update check sends the app's version to the update host.
Calendar and notifications
With Premium's Calendar on, the app puts your followed fixtures in a calendar of its own in the Calendar app, and alerts are macOS notifications. Neither passes through our server. If that calendar's account syncs, with iCloud for example, the fixtures sync with it.
Anonymous usage data
Gamebell has no ads, no account, and no third-party analytics or tracking code.
If Share anonymous usage data is on, the app sends our server a few anonymous counts, at most once every 15 minutes, so
we can see whether reminders arrive on time, where setting up gets stuck,
which Premium features are used, and how many people buy or renew Premium.
The Premium counts carry no licence key, install id or name: paid and renewed carry only the plan.
It is on unless you turn it off, on the welcome screen's Alerts step or in Settings.
While it is off, nothing is sent, and anything waiting to be sent is deleted.
Each batch carries a random usage ID, which is not the install id used for licences, and these events, each with the time it happened on your Mac:
first_launch: Gamebell was opened for the first time.follows_selected: how many teams, competitions and players you follow (count) and their sports: football, esports, basketball, American football, ice hockey, cricket, rugby union, baseball, tennis or Formula 1 (sports).week_viewed: My Week, or the welcome screen's week preview, was shown.notifications_granted: notifications were allowed.reminder_delivered: a reminder's time came, with how many minutes before the start it was set for (lead), the sport (sport) and whether it was a bundle (bundled).reminder_opened: a reminder was clicked, with itslead, whether it was a bundle (bundled) and, for a single match, itssport.reminder_accuracy: once the match has started, how many seconds early or late the reminder fired (deltaSeconds), with itslead,sportandbundled.share_created: a match was shared with Copy Link, Copy as Image or Share…, with its sport (sport).paywall_viewed: the Premium offer was shown, with what opened it, such as the follow limit or a Premium switch (trigger).paid: Premium was bought through a checkout opened in the app, with the plan: monthly, six months or yearly (plan).renewed: Premium bought that way renewed for another period, with itsplan.alarm_armed: an alarm was set for a match.estimate_shown: a match screen showed the match's estimated start.clash_resolved: a clash between two matches was settled with Watch this.shield_on: the spoiler shield was switched on.calendar_on: Premium's Calendar was switched on.digest_sent: the weekly digest or the morning results went out.moment_followed: a moment was followed, with which kind: grand finals, derbies, national teams or the top tier (kind).shortcut_run: Gamebell ran one of your Shortcuts.focus_filter_set: a Focus filter for Gamebell was set.discord_on: Discord status was switched on.
No team, player, competition or match, no name or email address, no licence key and no network address is stored with them. They are kept in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine for 3 months. Settings → Reset Anonymous ID deletes what is waiting to be sent and starts a new random id, so later counts can't be linked to earlier ones.
Sharing
When you share a match link from the app, the link carries a random share id. Our server counts how often that link is opened and how often its Add to Gamebell button is pressed, with the id and the sport, for 3 months. Nothing identifies you or the person who opens it.
How long we keep data
- Licence records are kept for support and accounting.
- Paddle event ids are kept for 30 days.
- The record of a Mac that hasn't been seen for 180 days is deleted.
- Anonymous usage data is kept for 3 months.
- Backups are kept for 30 days.
- On our website, a beta request that is never confirmed is deleted after 7 days, with its email address.
- Sign-in and confirmation links are deleted a day after they are used or expire.
- Everything else you give our website is kept until you delete it or ask us to.
- Feedback emails are kept for as long as we need them to answer you and fix what you report.
- Sentry keeps crash reports for at most 90 days.
On our website
On our website you can ask to join the beta and vote for the sports you want next. For that, it keeps:
- Your email address, to send you the beta invite and your sign-in links, and news when Gamebell launches if you ask for it.
- Your language, so the pages and emails are in it.
- The answers you choose to give with a beta request: the sports you follow and whether your Mac has a notch.
- Your sport votes and suggestions, and the display name you choose if you set one.
Only we see what the website keeps. Sport votes are private: the website shows no vote counts, and only we see who voted for what.
The website sets three cookies, and only these three.
__Host-gb_s keeps you signed in, for up to 180 days.
gb_lang remembers the language you chose, for a year.
__Host-gb_h ties a sign-in link you ask for to the browser you asked from, for 30 minutes.
None is used for advertising or tracking.
Cloudflare D1 stores what the website keeps, and Cloudflare Email Sending delivers its emails, both on our behalf. The website counts page views and actions, such as a beta request or a vote, by language and page, with no address, id or network address.
To delete what the website holds about you, sign in and choose Delete my data on the Your data page, or write to us.
Deleting your data
Write to us and we delete your licence record, with the record of the Macs it was used on, once your subscription has ended. It leaves our backups within 30 days. Paddle keeps its own records of your purchase.
